About the Studio Fabrications
Fabrications is MVRDV’s vibrant and dynamic model-making workshop, where craftsmanship, innovative design skills, and cutting-edge technology come together to create remarkable physical models. From intricate small-scale objects to detailed large-scale architectural models, the space embodies precision, creativity, and high quality.
Our latest physical model, created for the Shenzhen Women & Children's Centre, showcases these principles in action. This impressive piece has been featured in our Carbon Confessions exhibition, but also in an exhibition organized by the Museum Angewandte Kunst, highlighting all the nominated projects for the prestigious International High-Rise Award. About the role
At MVRDV, we see physical model making as a vital part of our design approach. As an intern, you'll take an active role in the creation and development of architectural models that support the design process from concept to presentation. The models you help create will be actively used in design reviews and client presentations, playing a key role in shaping and communicating ideas.

Job requirements
We are looking for a full-time (32-40 hours/week) modelmaker intern to join us on-site starting from September (wth some room for negotiation), for an exciting 6-month internship. More specifically, we are looking for students with:
Skilled in model making, with a solid understanding of materials and refined craftsmanship
Strong design and CAD skills.
Knowledge of 3D modelling software (please specify your experience with each software in your application, Rhino knowledge is a plus)
3D-printing knowledge (Ultimakers)
Workshop experience will be considered a plus, confidence with operating machinery such as 3D-printers and the lasercutter
Attention to detail, craftsmanship and ability to work with both speed and accuracy.
Team-player attitude with a desire to learn and make a positive contribution.
Affinity with, and knowledge of architecture is a plus.
Authorised to work in the Netherlands (through being an EU citizen, having a Dutch student permit or WHP)
Enrolled as a student for the entire duration of the internship (proof required)
What you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
Fabricating high-quality physical models for final presentations
Preparing files for 3D printing and assisting with post-processing
Supporting colleagues in the model workshop and helping with their deliverables when needed
Adapting models based on design updates, feedback, or technical requirements
Collaborating closely with your Fabrications teammate and contributing to day-to-day workshop tasks
Whether working at different scales or experimenting with new materials, you’ll be hands-on in shaping how dieas take physical form.
