Job description
We are expanding our MVRDV team in New York! MVRDV is looking for an intermediate Architect or Architectural Designer with excellent technical, design, graphic, and communication skills to join our New York office. We work on a wide range of diverse, projects in the North American Market, and we’re looking for someone who brings both strong ideas and a hands-on attitude to the table.
You will be working on projects under the responsibility of Rutger Huiberts AIA NCARB, Director North America.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship may be considered for highly qualified candidates where business needs and immigration requirements allow.

Responsiblities:
Collaborate with staff and Project Managers to develop design layouts and frameworks, including preparing drawings and specifications.
Support by translating the Project Managers decisions into actionable steps, tracking progress, and ensuring successful project execution.
Produce technical design materials, drawings, and renderings while recommending solutions that align with client needs. Coordinate architectural design with engineering disciplines (structural, mechanical, civil) and other design disciplines (façade design, landscape, lighting, etc)
Assist in writing and reviewing project documentation, specifications, takeoff and calculations.
Provide recommendations for the planning, design, and coordination of complex projects.
Prepare studies of design and planning to ensure alignment with project goals.
Research building codes, zoning regulations, and project requirements and work with the design team to ensure compliance.
Mentor junior staff and interns, sharing expertise and providing guidance as needed.
Guide a specific scope of the project while delegating tasks and overseeing the work of junior staff and interns.
Participate in site visits to assess project conditions and ensure design accuracy.
Manage multiple tasks on different projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met through effective collaboration and minimal oversight.
Job requirements
Who we are looking for:
Professional Architecture Degree. Master's preferred, but not necessarily a requirement.
6+ years of relevant experience.
Experience in multi-family and mixed-use projects preferred.
Licensure is a plus. If not licensed, must be actively pursuing or on a defined path toward licensure.
Skilled in creating design studies and technical drawings that follow industry standards and conventions.
Proactive and collaborative, demonstrating a can-do attitude and leadership skills to guide junior staff and interns.
Demonstrates proactivity in taking initiative and problem-solving, applying established standards and best practices to new projects and tasks with efficiency and adaptability.
Skilled in leading, managing, and organizing tasks for junior staff and interns.
Has a keen ability to manage multiple tasks across various projects while effectively meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Highly organized, professional, and punctual, with excellent communication skills.
Willingness to participate in industry events and firm-wide activities to foster professional development and networking.
Proficient in Revit
Capability in AutoCAD and Rhino.
Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Experience with Bluebeam and Enscape.
