About the Role:

In this pivotal role, you will play a central part in driving MVRDV's commitment to carbon aware design. You will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the MVRDV NEXT team. This team is a cross-disciplinary team of computational and environmental designers. One of the focus areas of the team is embodied carbon in the early design process. As Operational Manager MVRDV NEXT, you will oversee the development and implementation of innovative carbon reduction strategies within our projects. You will also foster awareness and collaboration across our Studios regarding carbon aware design best practices.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate MVRDV's NEXT team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective project delivery.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive carbon reduction strategies across MVRDV's architectural projects.
  • Champion and integrate the principles of embodied carbon into the design process.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of MVRDV NEXT to further implement carbon aware design goals.
  • Conduct research and stay updated on the latest trends and innovations in carbon aware design technologies.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations to educate and inspire the architectural team on carbon aware design practices.
  • Utilize your strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the practice.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in the field of sustainable design in architecture.
  • Proficient in Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, Dynamo, Python, Power BI.
  • Managerial skills in working with people and steering results.
  • Strong conceptual design skills with a passion for innovative and carbon aware solutions.
  • Deep understanding of embodied carbon and its impact on building design.
  • Experience working in an international design environment.
  • Excellent communication, clarification, and presentation skills.
  • A strong affinity with the work of MVRDV and a commitment to its design philosophy.
